1. Will I fall out of the raft?
On the float trips, you may get knocked over by the beautiful scenery, but you will not get knocked out of the raft. About every second white water trip, someone falls out but they are usually hauled back on the raft within micro seconds. On Kayak trips, you are almost guaranteed to fall overboard, but it's very easy to get back on, as they are inflatables.

2. Do I need experience?
No experience required. We provide full training before your journey so you can have just as much fun as experienced rafters.

3. Are the guides qualified?
Our guides are fully qualified and licensed river guides. Please click here to learn more.

4. What do I need to bring?
You need to bring a swimsuit to wear under the Mountain High wetsuit, warm socks for inside your wetsuit boots, a sweater, any medication you may use (ie: inhaler, insulin etc), dry clothes for after your journey and the remaining balance of your payment to Mountain High.

5. What is provided?
We provide all the fixins for a fun, warm and safe day on the river, including a wet suit, life jacket, spray jacket, wetsuit boots, helmet, paddle, rafts/kayaks, pre-trip instructions and a qualified guide.

6. How much does it cost?
Prices vary based on the type of trip you have with Mountain High. Please click here for our prices.

7. Can I bring sunglasses?
There is no chance of losing your glasses on the float trips, but on white water trips, we recommend glasses straps, which hang around your neck. For contact users, clients have had little problems losing or misplacing them.

8. Is the water cold?
The water can be cold at times, but is barely noticable during your time on the river as Mountain High provides industry standard wetsuits which keep you nice and cozy in just about any condition.

9. How do I get there?
Please click here to find Fernie on Google Maps ( http://maps.google.com/maps )
. Fernie is located in beautiful British Columbia, Canada in the East Kootenay Mountains.

10. What is the minimum age?

  • There is no minimum age for the scenic float.
  • Bull River min is 8 years.(not including lower canyon)
  • Elk River min is 13 years high water (June to early July) and 50 pounds (an average 8 year old) in medium to low water.
  • Kayaking has a min age of 15.

11. What's for lunch?
Lunch on the river is a gorgeous buffet of fresh fruit, fresh baked breads, cheese of all kinds, luncheon meats and various salads. Please inform us ahead of time of any allergies.

12. What is the largest size wetsuit available?
We have wetsuits up to 4 XL and they are very stretchy. The limiting factor is the lifejacket, which can expand to a 52 inch chest or waist. On the Raging Elk Canyon there is a ten minute hike to get to the river; which involves walking down about 300 steps.

13. Do you offer any discounts?
We offer a 10% discount for groups of eight or more.
